As we begin a new tennis year at Portmarnock Tennis Club, I am delighted and honoured to welcome you as the club’s new Chairperson.
I would like to sincerely thank the outgoing committee for their hard work, dedication and drive in strengthening the club throughout 2025. I also warmly welcome our new committee members who have stepped forward to support the continued growth of our club.
We are fortunate to have an outstanding coaching team, led by our Head Coach, Joey Purcell and Senior Coach Mark Dempsey. Together with Sophie, Laura and Ella the coaching team play a central role in developing players of all ages and standards, their continued commitment is vital to the success and energy of our club.
We have an exciting year ahead. Inter-club leagues will once again be a key focus. We look forward to strong representation across all league classes entered. Our club competition calendar will provide plenty of opportunities for members of all levels to compete, improve and enjoy the social side of tennis. We also look forward to welcoming new members into what is a vibrant and inclusive tennis community.
A major highlight this year will be our first Open Competition, planned for May. This is an important milestone for Portmarnock Tennis Club and an opportunity to showcase our facilities, hospitality and competitive spirit within the wider tennis community. We encourage all members to support what promises to be a fantastic event.
Development remains central to our plans. Building on the momentum of recent improvements — including the clubhouse renovations, new tennis equipment, our website and upgraded data management systems. We will continue investing in our club and progress initiatives to modernise and enhance facilities. There are exciting developments ahead, so watch this space.
Above all, our focus remains on participation, enjoyment and community. Here’s to a successful and enjoyable 2026 season.
